Service is What we Do!
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is honored to have formed many wonderful community-based partnerships over the past 96 years. Whether participating in our Z-HOPE programs, awarding scholarships through our National Educational Foundation, or joining with March of Dimes to raise awareness for babies born prematurely, we do so with the understanding that service to the community is our greatest legacy. Along with our major programs, we have additional initiatives , such as Elder Care, Adopt-A-School, Adopt-A-Highway and partnerships with the national organizations listed below.
Elder Care
Elder Care Initiative strives to provide education and awareness about preparing for your senior years. The African American community is least prepared when it comes to retirement, estate planning and understanding the legal and financial preparation needed to care for parents, grandparents and ultimately, for our own long term care. It is a comprehensive program that also focuses on elder abuse awareness, financial peace, supporting the caregiver and volunteering at senior care facilities.
Adopt-a-School
Adopt-A-School allows members of Zeta Phi Beta to identify low performing schools and provide assistance in a number of ways to enhance the educational experience, increase test scores and grades. Members purchase supplies and/or equipment, provide volunteer hours, assist with parent engagement programs and work with administrators to identify needs that may be specific to that particular school. The adopted school for the Alpha Eta Zeta chapter is Dunbar Elementary School.
Adopt-a-Highway
Adopt-A-Highway is a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) program provides an opportunity for individuals and groups concerned about the environment to take an active role in preserving and protecting our state's natural beauty. AHZ joined the efforts of keeping Memphis' highways cleaned in 2010. Our assigned area is located at Highway 51 and Watkins.
